We All Have a “Blue”

Over the past few years, I have worked very hard learning and unlearning—rewiring and reprogramming mindsets that allow me to live my best life. There are so many beautiful things I gained through my upbringing, and there are also patterns and beliefs that no longer serve me.

As I’ve aged and opened myself in ways I never thought I could, I’ve seen—very clearly—how deeply mindset impacts health. At the end of the day, we are the only ones who are fully connected to our thoughts as we lay our heads on the pillow after a long, hard day. No one else lives inside that space with us.

At the forefront of my self-care practice—meditation, breathwork, Reiki, Qigong, tai chi, yoga, hiking, reading, or whatever empties and fills my cup with exactly what I need to move forward—I’ve realized that one of my greatest practices is writing.

With all the mindset work I’ve done, I still have to return to this practice again and again. Sometimes I forget its power. The beautiful thing is that once awareness is established, it’s harder to fully slip back into old behaviors. What’s even harder, though, is witnessing our loved ones suffer and seeing how that suffering impacts their physical, mental, and emotional health.

Much of my work is about creating awareness—for myself first, and then for those around me. Whether it’s through a check-in during a session or through my writing, I aim to offer awareness in a way that allows others to observe from afar, on their own terms. It’s very much a take what you want and leave the rest approach.

At the end of the day, I don’t always know who is reading my blogs, articles, or posts. What I do know is that I create them for me—always—with the hope that there is a greater intention woven through them. An intention that, little by little, contributes to humanity. New awareness. New thought patterns. Gentle reminders that guide us toward better health—whatever that means for each person.

Anything that leads us toward kindness, compassion, patience, and love matters deeply to me.

For those who have known me prior to my TNW work, you may not always recognize how this shift came about. What I’ve come back to time and time again is this simple truth: whatever I create comes from a connected place. It comes through me, for me, with a greater purpose attached to it.

I don’t usually have a grand plan or a targeted business strategy behind my writing. My articles and creative work come from the heart—and through the heart space. It’s a simple formula. The world already has plenty of noise—violence, greed, fear, division. My offerings, whether through TNW services or everyday moments like greeting someone in passing, are guided by one intention:

Live through an open heart.

Trust my intuition.

Continue to practice patience.

These are the themes that run through my greatest form of expression—writing.

We often hear about flow state—that effortless connection to non-action, also known as Wu Wei. It’s when the song writes itself, the dancer disappears into the dance, the athlete enters the zone. This comes from a deep connection to ourselves in the present moment. We get lost in the doing.

This is where most of my writing comes from.

Sometimes it’s simply a release—regurgitation from an overloaded mind at the end of the day. Sometimes it’s automatic writing. But most often, it comes from a place much deeper. From my soul. A space with no outside interference, no ego resistance—just truth. The truth that lives within me and communicates through sensation, intuition, and awareness.

It may come as a gentle nudge.

An abrupt kick in the butt.

A soft whisper.

A clear vision.

Or a deep knowing that doesn’t need words.

This connection is something I’ve intentionally developed a relationship with over the past few years. It’s often ‘channelled’—something that’s hard to explain and not always necessary to explain. Any Nature Within creative piece—blogs, articles, meditations, or curriculum—comes from this space. With practice, I’ve learned to relax into it and trust it.

When we observe young children at play, we can see this connection so clearly. Their imagination flows effortlessly—whether they’re painting, building, playing with dolls or cars, or even interacting with imaginary friends. As adults, we may label this as cute, strange, or even concerning.

But what if these “imaginary friends” are actually a deep connection to something much greater?

All of my writing comes from a place like this. It’s as if my antenna tunes into different broadcasts depending on what’s needed. The most important part of that process is the receiver—the internal guide that allows me to access information without needing to explain where it comes from.

That guide, that inner knowing, that connection—has named itself - Blue.

Too weird?

Well, Blue is my inner voice.

My inner knowing.

My soul-relationship.

Every piece of writing I create is signed “Blue.”

It may seem weird. It may seem odd. But it’s also pretty incredible.

This is the weirdness I’ve learned to lean into—even when I don’t fully understand it. What I do know is this: we all have a Blue inside of us.

It’s that voice you hear.

That feeling in your chest.

That place in the heart where action flows freely and guidance feels aligned.

Over the past three years especially, I’ve opened myself to this connection more deeply—and now I’m writing about it. Because embracing this “weirdness” is really about embracing our creativity, our uniqueness, and our gifts.

No one on this planet has what you have, in the way that you have it.

So, why don’t you BE it?!?!

We live in a world that sensationalizes separateness and conformity, while authenticity is often overlooked or misunderstood. Isn’t it time we start celebrating it a little more?

I’ve lived on the other side of this. I’ve lived the jock life. I’ve lived the conforming life. I’ve lived through competition, separation, judgment, guilt and shame. And while those experiences brought meaningful friendships and lessons, they also led me to deep pain when I ignored the guidance of my soul.

As I’ve written before—health is about choosing what feeds us and what leads us.

And for me, that path leads to Blue. It’s taken me a half of a century to realize and understand it.

So when you are reading anything by The Nature Within, it comes from a really awesome place.

— Blue

He’s my boy.
