A Day of Deep Gratitude May We Prime The Pump

This is a picture of what my evening routine often looks like. It used to be filled with a constant stream of sports, competition, and adrenaline.

Today, I AM…grateful for continuing on a path of inner peace, and grateful for the people in which surround me with love and support.

There are days when gratitude doesn’t simply feel like an emotion—it feels like a state of being.

As I mentioned, today is one of those days.

I find myself deeply grateful for the people who have come into my life. The ones who genuinely celebrate, encourage, support, and cheerlead one another without envy, comparison, or competition. There is something profoundly healing about being surrounded by people who want to see you become more of who you are rather than less.

You don’t have to question where you stand with these people.

You simply feel it.

That feeling reaches beyond words. It settles into the soul.

The beautiful part is that this kind of alignment doesn’t begin with the people around us. It begins within us.

As we begin to feel worthy, connected, and honest with ourselves, we naturally begin attracting people who reflect those same qualities. Friends. Family. Soul family. Teachers. Students. Strangers who somehow feel familiar.

We often hear that we become the average of the people we spend the most time with.

There is truth in that.

But we are also the owner, promoter, and, at times, the demoter of the relationships we choose to keep in our lives.

Alignment isn’t about excluding people.

It’s about honoring what nourishes your heart and recognizing what continually asks you to abandon yourself.

Recently, I found myself reading through my very first journal—the one I began shortly after becoming Reiki Level One certified (Training held by Laura Ramirez, LLC - with whom I was graciously invited to be a collaborative partner in 2023). This, in many ways, has been one of the greatest gifts presented to me - a direct reflection of my own inner work and dedication to serving others.

It was both humbling and kind of emotional.

Page after page revealed someone who was just beginning to meet himself.

I could see the awakening taking place in real time.

I witnessed my growing awareness of self-talk.

I watched myself learn the importance of healthy boundaries.

Perhaps most significantly, I saw myself beginning to recognize my feelings—something that had been almost completely foreign to me for nearly half a century.

Looking back, I realize that this wasn’t a dramatic overnight transformation.

It was a series of tiny decisions.

I leaned heavily into I AM affirmations.

I repeated mantras until they became beliefs.

I read books that helped rewire old patterns and loosen some deeply corroded ways of thinking.

Little by little, I began trusting myself.

Every time I honored one of those quiet pings…those gentle pulls toward what my heart already knew…that trust became stronger.

Eventually I began recognizing something that had always been there.

The voice within.

My soul.

That journey became what I now proudly call The Nature Within, LLC.

It has never been just a business.

It is a way of living.

Like any meaningful path, it has included seasons of contraction and expansion.

There were years when I felt incredibly protective of this inner transformation.

Sometimes even defensive.

As my awareness changed, I experienced emotions that led me further into change; growth.

Whether it was Fear, Guilt, Shame, Grief, I watched the changing of the guard within myself. Sometimes quiet shifts. Sometimes not so quiet shifts. My external world began to shift accordingly.

Relationships shifted.

Old habits no longer fit.

Parts of my outside world suddenly felt misaligned because I was no longer living from the same place inside.

Looking back now, I understand something that I couldn’t fully see then.

Whenever we move against our soul…

Whenever we repeatedly make choices that ignore what we truly need…

Our body often feels it long before our mind understands it.

Our nervous system whispers before it shouts.

This journey is much like building strength in the gym.

We don’t walk into a weight room on our first day and load 315 pounds onto the bench press.

Growth happens through repetition.

Awareness is built one choice at a time.

Self-trust develops one courageous decision after another.

Every pause.

Every boundary.

Every breath.

Every act of self-compassion.

They all strengthen the muscles of the soul.

So if you are just beginning your journey of self-care, self-awareness, or simply getting to know yourself, know that you don’t have to have everything figured out.

You simply have to begin.

Meet yourself where you are.

Offer yourself grace.

Prime the pump. It often begins with small acts of gratitude.

When we become the observer of our lives instead of simply reacting to them, something remarkable begins to happen.

Our heart gradually opens.

Our intuition becomes clearer.

The Universe begins presenting opportunities, relationships, conversations, and experiences that feel remarkably aligned—not because they suddenly appeared, but because we finally became available to receive them.

May we continue choosing what nourishes us.

May we trust the quiet wisdom within.

May we surround ourselves with those who celebrate authenticity.

And may we never underestimate the incredible power of becoming who we truly are.

With deep gratitude.
