I’M A SUNSET GUY

This may be a little out there for some, but here we go…

Don’t get me wrong, I love, and am grateful for, the sunrise… But I’m a sunset guy.

There’s something about sunsets that never fails to pull me in. Maybe it’s because they carry both an ending and a beginning in their glow. They remind us that time is cyclical, not linear—that what closes also makes room for what’s next.

Your day may have been long, heavy, or chaotic. Or maybe it was filled with joy and connection. Either way, when the sun dips low and paints the horizon in fire, it leaves us with a whisper: “You made it through. Rest now.”

I’m a Sunset Guy

I’m a sunset guy.

When the work is done

and it’s time to set anew,

I lay my head down

for a well-deserved rest.

I’m a sunset guy.

Whether it falls behind mountains,

rests over forests of trees,

reflects on the water,

or hides behind clouds,

I find it.

A rich color

lighting the sky with fiery tint,

the sunset is a reminder—

a day was lived with promise.

It is also a promise itself:

a hand extended toward peace.

The sunset turns itself

over to the moon.

For those who are sensitive,

who feel deeply,

we ride with the tide.

And yes—

I’m a moon guy too.

My antenna absorbs its glow.

When we honor it,

when we connect to the illusion

that it’s okay to feel—

we realize we don’t need to fix it,

or hide it,

or pretend to be less of a burden.

We are tuned into something special.

The language of the moon

fills the portals of the third eye,

shocking dimensions open,

altering states of reality.

The moon guides our intuition,

while the vast sky breathes,

living, watching,

as Earth holds us close.

The sky oversees—

it sees how we support

or disrespect the Earth,

how we pollute her air,

how numb we’ve become

to her presence.

Yet,

as with the promise of sunrise,

the warmth of sunset remembers.

It remembers a day of service.

A day of rest.

A day of peace.

A day of hard work.

It remembers the kindness shared,

the connections embraced,

the reflections made.

And it encourages us,

softly,

into a long,

reset of rest.

I’m a sunset guy.

The Reflection:

This poem is more than a meditation on colors in the sky. It’s about presence—choosing to see endings not as failures or losses, but as gifts. Sunsets teach us to pause, to exhale, to let go of whatever burdens we’ve carried through the day.

The moon follows, carrying us deeper into intuition and reflection. Together, they remind us:

✨ We don’t have to fix everything.

✨ We don’t have to hide our emotions.

✨ Rest is not weakness—it’s wisdom.

In a culture that glorifies hustle and constant productivity, sunset is a rebellion. It asks us to slow down, to breathe, and to allow stillness to heal what the daylight exposed.

An Invitation for You

Tonight, as the sun begins to set, go outside (or find a window where you can watch). Let the light fill your eyes and your chest. Whisper gratitude—for what the day brought, for what it took away, for the chance to begin again tomorrow.

Ask yourself:

Am I willing to honor my endings the way I honor my beginnings?

Because in every sunset is the quiet reminder: peace doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from knowing when to rest.
