“Rule # 6…”
Don’t Take Yourself So G—Damn Seriously
(Inspired by Wayne Dyer and The Art of Possibility by Ben Zander)
We often become way too serious in life. Deadlines, responsibilities, stressors—they all pile on and push us into pockets of energy that pull us away from balance, perspective, and joy. Rule 6 is simple in words but profound in practice: don’t take yourself so g—damn seriously.
Life is not a race to the finish line. We do not need to figure everything out or accomplish every goal in this lifetime to feel complete. Our journey is meant to be experienced, not endured. When we cling too tightly to outcomes, when we overinflate the importance of our actions, we risk losing all the fun, magic, and spontaneity life offers.
Rule 6 invites us to move a little lighter through the world, to embrace spontaneity, and to stay present in the moment. It’s not about walking around flippantly or uncaring; it’s about cultivating inner confidence—an authentic knowing that we are enough exactly where we are.
When I embody Rule 6, my creation, my actions, my words come from the core of my being. I no longer stress over the “what ifs” or the judgments of others because everything emerges from a place of authenticity. This is how we avoid giving small things big energy, how we sidestep mental and emotional loops, and how we protect our inner peace—a peace that, as I age, has climbed to the very top of my Mount Rushmore of desires.
In today’s world, hustling is glorified, yet hustling often pulls us out of presence. True creativity, true joy, true connection—these flourish when we slow down, when we release the need to always “perform,” and when we allow life to unfold naturally. At TNW, my goal is to cultivate complete presence through the heart space, giving space for each moment to be fully experienced.
Rule 6 also nudges us to consider what is truly worth our energy. Karmic cycles—our actions and their rebounds—shape the energy we carry forward. Which cycles are worth continuing, and which are better left behind? What deserves your attention today? Focus on what aligns with your truth, your joy, and your purpose, and let the rest fall away.
When in doubt, be still. Listen. Ask. Source will answer—sometimes immediately, sometimes subtly, through opportunities, signs, and symbols. Life is infinite in its lessons and in its love, and the power of love is far greater than the weight of our ego.
At the end of the day, we leave this world with nothing material—only the resonance of our actions and the presence of our hearts. Rule 6 reminds us to live fully, love deeply, and lighten up along the way. Focus on what is, rather than what is not.
Live it. Love it. Laugh at it. And most importantly, don’t take yourself so g—damn seriously.
And So It Is.
