Seeing with Sacral Eyes

Seeing with Sacral Eyes

I’ve always found myself drawn to the relationship between certain energy centers, particularly the connection between the sacral chakra and the throat chakra. They create a beautiful bridge—one that allows us to connect with what we feel and then gives those feelings a compassionate voice.

When we invite the heart chakra, and especially the high heart, into that relationship, something begins to soften even more. We become less interested in defending ourselves and more committed to honoring who we authentically are.

This work isn’t easy. It asks us to become aware of patterns we’ve often spent years avoiding. It requires honesty, patience, and grace. Yet when these energy centers begin to heal and work together, we naturally show up differently in the world.

Our root chakra provides the safety to be here. Our solar plexus offers the confidence and self-worth to trust ourselves.

The sacral chakra teaches us to feel, while the throat chakra allows us to communicate those feelings with compassion and integrity.

None of these centers exist in isolation. Healing one inevitably influences the others because we are not fragmented beings—we are a whole mind, body, and spirit.

When our inner world becomes calmer and our self-esteem strengthens, we move through life differently. We become less influenced by outside noise and more aligned with our own inner wisdom. That is the gift of a healthy solar plexus: knowing who you are without needing the world’s permission.

But how does the sacral chakra influence what we actually see?

Perhaps the greatest gift of a healthy sacral chakra is that it changes the lens through which we experience life.

Seeing through sacral eyes isn’t simply about emotion. It’s about honoring what we feel with acceptance instead of resisting it with fear, guilt, shame, or judgment. As we allow ourselves to genuinely experience our emotions without becoming consumed by them, something remarkable happens.

Our spirit returns to our eyes.

We’ve all met someone whose eyes seem alive—filled with joy, wonder, curiosity, and peace. We’ve also seen eyes weighed down by anxiety, fear, depression, or emotional exhaustion. There is a noticeable difference. It can be readily witnessed in the eyes of another.

The saying that “the eyes are the window to the soul” carries deep wisdom.

When we disconnect from what we feel, we often begin to disconnect from ourselves. We numb. We protect. We dissociate. Little by little, our spirit retreats from the present moment.

But when we remain present with our emotions instead of escaping them, our senses awaken.

The blades of grass appear more vibrant.

The leaves dancing in the wind suddenly capture our attention.

The warmth of sunlight feels different.

Birdsong becomes music instead of background noise.

Nothing outside of us has changed.

We have.

Instead of constantly searching for the next problem to solve, the next thing to fix, or the next story to worry about, we begin simply observing. We settle into what Taoism calls Wu Wei—effortless flow. A state where life isn’t forced but lived.

Flow is one of the greatest expressions of a healthy sacral chakra.

When we’re in this state, our thoughts become lighter. Creativity returns. Joy surfaces more naturally. Our intuition becomes easier to recognize because it is no longer competing with the constant noise of rumination.

Most repetitive thoughts happen between the ears.

Flow happens below them.

It rises from the core of our being—from the heart, the lower abdomen, and what many traditions call the lower Dantian. It is experienced, not manufactured.

Unfortunately, the sacral chakra is one of the most underdeveloped centers in many of us.

For good reason.

Who really teaches us how to feel?

How many of us were taught that emotions are information instead of problems?

Who showed us how to recognize what we’re experiencing, understand why it’s happening, integrate it with compassion, and communicate it in healthy ways?

This is emotional intelligence.

Not simply naming an emotion, but learning how to stay present with it without abandoning ourselves.

Then life happens.

Trauma.

Heartbreak.

Loss.

Disappointment.

Betrayal.

Little by little we begin closing the doors that once remained open.

Sometimes for days.

Sometimes for years.

Sometimes for decades.

We convince ourselves that if we stop feeling, we can stop hurting.

Yet in protecting ourselves from pain, we often unknowingly disconnect ourselves from joy, creativity, intimacy, and wonder as well.

Every one of those experiences influences our entire energetic system. They shape the way we think, the way our nervous system responds, and the way we move through the world.

This is why healing cannot happen in isolation.

A healthy sacral chakra doesn’t simply help us feel better.

It teaches us how to express our truth with compassion.

So often we suppress what we’re feeling because speaking honestly feels uncomfortable. We swallow our truth, push it deeper, and pretend it no longer exists.

But feelings don’t disappear.

They simply wait.

As we begin honoring what we genuinely feel, something beautiful happens.

Our truth no longer needs to arrive through anger.

Or frustration.

Or blame.

Instead, it arrives with boundaries.

Curiosity.

Openness.

Compassion.

Integrity.

The healthier our relationship becomes with ourselves, the stronger our intuition grows. We begin trusting ourselves again.

That trust naturally guides us toward relationships, opportunities, environments, and experiences that reflect who we have become rather than who we once believed we had to be.

Our heart softens because it no longer needs to protect us from everything.

Our nervous system begins recognizing safety.

Life feels lighter.

We walk differently.

We speak more gently.

We notice beauty more often.

Our outer world slowly begins reflecting the healing taking place within us.

This is what living feels like.

Not merely surviving.

Not constantly fearing.

Simply living.

Today, if you feel called, spend just a few quiet minutes settling into stillness.

Take a few slow breaths.

Step outside if you can.

Remind yourself that, in this moment, you are safe.

Exactly where you need to be.

If difficult thoughts or emotions arise, don’t rush to fix them. Simply notice them with compassion. Observe the stories your mind wants to tell and gently allow them to pass without attaching yourself to every one.

If affirmations resonate with you, begin with the words I am…

Complete the sentence with something that reminds you of your truth.

I am safe.

I am worthy.

I am enough.

I am healing.

If prayer speaks to your heart, perhaps spend time with the Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono:

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Simple practices like these create profound shifts over time. They remind us of our worth, reconnect us to gratitude, and gently return us home to ourselves.

Finally, close your eyes for a minute or two.

Notice where your awareness naturally lives.

If it feels caught between the ears, gently invite it downward to the space just below your navel—the lower Dantian.

Allow your breath to anchor your awareness there. It takes a bit of practice so beware of any internal frustration if not achieved.

As your mind settles into your body, your body begins teaching the mind a different way of seeing.

A calmer way.

A more compassionate way.

A more present way.

This is the beginning of seeing with sacral eyes.

As this practice deepens, your senses awaken. Old stories lose their grip. Perspective expands. What once felt heavy gradually becomes lighter, and the ordinary begins revealing extraordinary beauty.

Breath.

Presence.

Intentional awareness.

These simple practices have the power to open doors to freedom, joy, and possibilities that cannot be fully understood through theory alone. They must be experienced beyond hearsay and theory alone.

If you’d like to explore these practices more deeply through Reiki, breathwork, meditation, mentorship or coaching, I’d love to walk alongside you.
