Confidently Humble: The Practice of Patience, Simplicity, and Compassion
Moving along this confidently humble theme…the ones who are our steady rocks, the ones who show their authenticity.
I recently went for a Reiki session to help me move through some heavy and dark energy — whether it’s mine or something I’ve absorbed from another. I’m not entirely sure where this “funk” originates. Whether it’s mental or emotional energy showing up as physical pain, or physical discomfort triggering heaviness in the mind and body, it’s one in the same.
Whatever it is, I am deeply grateful for those who help me move through it — the practitioners, the friends, the teachers, and the quiet guides who support the process behind the scenes. I am learning, once again, to patiently honor both my mind and my body.
I’ve written many times about the importance of patience — about slowing down, pausing, and returning to center. These practices are not easy, especially during times of uncertainty or unfamiliarity. Yet, they are essential.
Patience is my number one practice — the root of all healing.
My number two practice is to keep things simple — especially in thought and action.
Simplicity creates space for clarity to emerge. It allows me to show up with presence for my loved ones and my clients, to bring perspective, relief, and understanding. It connects me back to a different skill set — one rooted not in doing more, but in being more.
I often refer to simplicity as “the block of wood,” a phrase drawn from traditional Eastern philosophy. The block of wood represents the natural state of being before we carve, shape, or define it — pure, unpolished, and whole. This is the heart of humility: coming back again and again to a simple, open state of being where there is nothing to prove and no agenda to serve.
When we can show up in that space — when we share knowledge, insight, or care from a sincere and humble heart — this is the mark of authenticity. This is where compassion lives, and where ego begins to dissolve.
We’ve all known those people who have been through trials and tribulations, yet return stronger, softer, and more centered and aligned in their authenticity. They radiate a grounded confidence, not from pride, but from experience and truth. You can feel it in their presence — a calmness, a sense of safety, a quiet joy that seems to illuminate the room.
Their energy is felt before they speak. It’s often full of compassion - the third staple of my practice.
We sense balance, love, and wisdom in their vibration. We feel heard. We feel seen. We feel at peace.
This is what we mean when we talk about frequency or vibration. It’s the energetic resonance of someone who lives in alignment with truth and love — someone whose light helps illuminate your own.
These are the people who are centered and balanced in heart, wisdom, and spirit.
They are the embodiment of what it means to be confidently humble.
Do you know such a person???
I know I do.
