Permission to Rest: The Quiet Strength in Slowing Down
“It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.”
— Confucius

There’s a deep wisdom that lives in stillness — one we often overlook in our rush to do, fix, and achieve.
Over the past few months, I’ve been reminded of what it means to truly pause (the theme for me in 2025). Not to quit, but to honor the natural rhythm of life — the inhale and the exhale, the rise and the rest.
We live in a world that celebrates motion. But even the most powerful currents need moments of still water.
Listening When the Body Speaks
There came a moment when my body, mind, and spirit all whispered the same message: stop.
I had been running on empty — mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually.
The more I tried to push forward, the more resistance I met. It was as if my inner engine refused to turn over. It also didn’t help that I was battling a spinal condition that seemed to zap every amount of energy I had, I just didn’t know how impactful this condition was having on my mind, body, and soul.
That was the moment I realized that rest is not optional — it’s sacred.
It’s the body’s way of recalibrating, of saying, “You’ve done enough for now. Let me take care of the rest.”
And so, I did.
I allowed myself to step back, breathe, and be. Over the next few months, post-surgery, I will continue this theme of rest, recovery, and rejuvenation. I will be taking time away to pour 100% of energy in rebuilding towards a wiser, more connected version of myself.
The Universe Has a Way
Throughout this pause, something beautiful has unfolded. The people around me — my family, friends, soul family, and clients — began to show up in ways that can only be described as divine timing.
Sometimes divine intervention doesn’t show up as lightning bolts or epiphanies.
It shows up as a text that arrives at the right moment, a friend who checks in, or a laugh shared over something silly. Whatever it may be, these are the reminders that show us how precious life really is. Evironment and the circle around us is so vitally important.
From my spouse and parents to my brothers, collaborators, and the supportive team at Laura Ramirez LLC and beyond, the universe made sure I saw just how surrounded I am by good people.
People who care.
People who lift.
People who remind me that even in rest, we are never alone. Ever.
My Word for 2025: Pause
Each year, I choose a word that becomes a compass.
This year, my word is Pause — and it’s been teaching me that slowing down doesn’t mean you’re losing momentum.
It means you’re syncing with your own natural rhythm.
Rest allows the energy of life to flow through you instead of against you.
It gives clarity space to rise to the surface.
And as I’ve learned — when you ignore the call to rest, life will eventually hand you the lesson anyway. Sometimes through exhaustion, sometimes through stillness, but always with love.
The Lesson
Confucius once said,
“It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.”
That’s the invitation — to move at our own pace.
To rest without guilt.
To trust the timing of your life.
Because slowing down is not failure.
It’s alignment.
So wherever you are right now — climbing, pausing, or simply catching your breath — know this:
It’s okay to rest.
It’s okay to take time.
Just don’t stop believing in your journey.
The universe always knows when to step in, who to send, and how to guide you back to center.
So as I approach my surgical date, I will leave you with this…
I will be extremely quiet for the next few weeks.
Sometimes we need to fall quiet enough to hear the whisper of our own spirit.
That whisper often says: pause, breathe, and remember who you are. Rest. Heal. Pause, and allow everything to unfold in its natural order.
It will.
The pause is not the end.
It’s simply The Nature Within — reminding us that even rest is a sacred part of the journey.
