Why Not?

Magnetism: The Quiet Law of Authentic Energy

The Tao Te Ching offers a profound teaching in Verse 36, one that speaks directly to the natural rhythms of life:

If you want to shrink something, you must first allow it to expand.

If you want to get rid of something, you must first allow it to flourish.

If you want to take something, you must first allow it to be given.

This verse describes a universal law of contraction and expansion.

Life moves in waves. Breath moves this way. The seasons move this way. Even our emotional and spiritual growth follows this rhythm.

When we try to force outcomes or rush the process, we interrupt the natural movement of energy. But when we practice patience and faith, we allow life to unfold according to a deeper intelligence—even when we cannot yet see what waits on the other side.

Trust lives here.

Over the past week, the theme of push and pull has been very present in my own reflections. It reminded me of something simple yet profound: the way a magnet works.

Our energy moves like this.

The Magnetism of Authenticity

When we show ourselves authentically, something remarkable happens.

Our soul begins to sing.

And when the soul sings, it sends out a frequency that naturally calls in those who resonate with it.

Magnetism.

But magnetism also means something else: repulsion.

Certain energies will not resonate with ours. Stress, anger, judgment, and fear can create distortions in the field we carry. When we are guarded or performing versions of ourselves to be accepted, our energy becomes tight and defensive.

True magnetism is not about charisma or ego.

In fact, it is often the opposite of ego.

Magnetism happens when the masks fall away.

When we stop trying so hard.

When we simply be.

When the Soul is Allowed to Sing

The phrase “just be” sounds simple, yet it carries enormous complexity.

Many of us have spent years protecting ourselves—hiding scars from past wounds, building layers of armor, or shaping ourselves into what we believed others needed us to be.

Authenticity asks something different.

It asks us to trust our inner voice.

When we nourish that voice, when we listen to it and allow it space to move through us, something softens. Our energy becomes lighter. More even. Less guarded.

There is less pretending.

Less protection.

More presence.

Over time, I have noticed the ways my own life has contracted and expanded around this process. There are moments where the inner voice feels bold and free, and others where it retreats quietly inward.

Both are part of the rhythm.

Authenticity isn’t a fixed state—it’s a living practice.

The Rare Gem

Authenticity is surprisingly rare in the modern world.

Many people move through life trying to meet expectations, chasing approval, or adjusting themselves to fit into spaces that were never meant for their true nature.

But the deeper question remains:

Why not simply show ourselves as we are?

The phrase “just be” becomes complicated when life is complicated. Responsibilities, relationships, past conditioning—all of it can cloud the simplicity of being.

Yet at its core, authenticity is freedom.

To live in a way where we answer not to the noise of the world, but to the quiet truth within.

And in the end, it was never really about anyone else anyway.

So why not give ourselves this freedom?

The Long Journey of Knowing Ourselves

Perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of being human is learning to know ourselves fully.

This is not something that happens quickly.

It is a lifelong unfolding—an ongoing process of discovering, accepting, and integrating every part of who we are.

The light.

The shadow.

The gifts.

The wounds.

Each of us carries something unique to offer the world. A perspective, a presence, a gift that cannot be replicated.

So again, the question returns:

Why not just be?

A Little Wisdom from Rule Number Six

Along this journey, I often remember something Wayne Dyer called Rule Number Six:

“Don’t take yourself so seriously.”

Life can feel heavy at times. Our minds can pull us into stories that make everything feel urgent, dramatic, or overwhelming.

But laughter softens the grip of those stories.

Compassion softens them even more.

When we learn to laugh at the conditions that once pulled us into darkness, something begins to loosen inside us. The tightness dissolves.

Forgiveness becomes possible.

And forgiveness—especially toward ourselves—is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

The Truth Beneath It All

Underneath everything we hide, everything we protect, everything we try to control, there is a deeper truth.

We are born from love.

We live through love.

And we are guided through love.

Even when that word still carries edges.

Even when it still triggers something inside us.

(And yes… love is still a trigger word for me too. But I continue working with it every day.)

Because at the end of it all, the invitation remains simple.

To trust the rhythm.

To allow contraction and expansion.

To let the soul sing.

And to live with the quiet magnetism that emerges when we stop trying to be anything other than who we truly are.

So, why not?
