Building the House: From Gemini to Sagittarius

There are certain lessons in life that seem to come around on repeat.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my North Node and South Node, and how these themes can become another lens through which we understand the work we’re here to do.

My South Node is in Gemini.

Gemini represents a foundation of strength: gathering information, asking questions, communicating, connecting dots, remaining curious, adapting, learning, and seeing multiple perspectives.

I’ve spent plenty of time there. That’s what the astrological South Node indicates…our learned skills and abilities we can rely on. These qualities have served me tremendously in so many ways (and lifetimes), but it’s not in my best interest to stay here.

It’s like building the foundation of the house and not completing the other levels. We must go upward if we want to thrive. The completion doesn’t end on past, South Node learnings. We must continue to build the house.

I’ve been seeing my house as simple and isolated as possible while others have indicated what is also in my meditation guidance as well: your house is a castle, a tower, a launchpad for so many. The Nature Within has a unique voice in a unique healing space, at the perfect moment in time.

The time is now. Launch. Trust. Go.

I’ve been told by many that these shoulders carry some heavy weight, although weight isn’t actually responsibility. It’s more from an inner knowing and a personal expectation that produces all kinds of fears within me…

The expectation of feeling worthy of it all. Yes, it all, without needing it in order to feel fulfilled.

I know I am worthy.

Keep it simple.

One Nail at a Time

Building the house requires many hours of hard work. Each house isn’t going to look the same either.

Some days will be hot.

Pack lots of water and take frequent breaks.

One nail at a time.

Some days are rainy.

Bring an umbrella when needed and find some shelter.

Some days it’s freezing cold.

Dress in layers.

Some days are ice and snow.

Don’t work on those days.

Stay inside.

There’s a lot to do there, too.

Inner work.

Meditation.

Yoga.

Breath.

Rest.

Reflection.

Take a sick day when needed.

We all need a day.

There is a tendency to believe that moving toward our purpose means we should always be moving.

Movement isn’t always progress and rest isn’t always stopping. Sometimes rest is what allows us to continue building.

Trust the Path

Trust the path.

It’s not always moving forward.

Sometimes we have to clear some debris before we can see the path forward.

Then, if it feels aligned, take it.

Sometimes we have to fall in order to learn why we did. Sometimes we have to move backwards in order to clear the path to go forward.

This is where the Sagittarius North Node begins to speak to me. Sagittarius leans toward the adventurous side of things while struggling with the fear of the shadows. There is a desire to explore and expand.

To seek something greater and to move toward the horizon. There can also be fear around what we might find along the way. This is where I am finding part of my work right now.

Not eliminating the fear. Trusting myself enough to move with it.

The Choice, Not the Demand

The choice. Not the demand.

Trust…

From all kinds of trust-related issues, apparently this is my time to really lean in.

Fear will be there, especially as trust diminishes.

This why trust is required.

Required. It’s not an option.

If I already knew exactly what was going to happen, I wouldn’t need trust. Trust asks us to take the next step without requiring the entire staircase to be visible.

The Scaffolding

Limiting beliefs, unworthiness, and all other kinds of things mess with our solar plexus.

It’s hard to keep building that house when it’s a bit windy and your scaffolding doesn’t feel too secure. We can know what we’re supposed to do and still struggle to do it. We can understand our patterns and still fall back into them.

We can have tremendous awareness and still experience. This is part of the human experience. The work isn’t about becoming someone who never gets scared.

It’s about becoming someone who can recognize fear without allowing it to make every decision.

The South Node gives us the tools.

The North Node asks us to decide what we’re going to build with them.

We feel good when we are stretched just beyond comfort.

So for me, my fall back design looks a bit like this:

Gemini gathers the information.

Sagittarius searches for the meaning.

Gemini asks the questions.

Sagittarius seeks the truth.

Gemini sees the pieces.

Sagittarius looks for the bigger picture.

We use and need both.

Everything is a balance act between opposing forces with me. The goal isn’t for me to abandon one part of myself and become another.

It’s to use what I’ve already learned as the foundation for where I am going.

Keep Building

I’ve spent a lot of time learning.

Analyzing.

Questioning.

Connecting.

Understanding.

Now the invitation seems to be different.

What am I going to do with everything I’ve learned?

That’s where the work becomes real.

The house doesn’t get built by staring at the blueprint. At some point, we have to pick up the hammer and sometimes we need to put it down.

Sometimes we need to climb. Sometimes we need to come back down. Sometimes we need to repair something we thought was finished.

Sometimes we discover that what we believed was a wall was actually scaffolding. Sometimes we realize that what we thought was a setback was simply another part of the foundation.

So I’m learning to trust the process.

To trust the path.

To trust the pauses.

To trust the backward steps.

To trust the clearing.

To trust the choice.

And perhaps most importantly, to trust that I don’t have to build the entire tower today.

One nail at a time.

Because the work continues.

The house continues.

And so do I.
