Holding It In
The most efficient breathers in the world are babies.
Watch a baby breathe—full belly, open chest, soft and natural. Nothing held back. Nothing hidden. Just presence.
But as we grow, something changes. We learn to hold it in.
How It Starts
As toddlers, we are redirected, praised, or corrected. Approval and disapproval begin to shape us, teaching us which expressions are “welcome.”
As young children, we learn the rules of our environment. We tuck away tears, fears, or alarms when the world around us says, “not here.”
As adolescents, the habit deepens. The discomfort doesn’t go away—it just gets buried. It shows up later as anger, aggression, withdrawal, or self-betrayal.
This holding it in becomes a pattern. A learned behavior. A survival strategy.
What We Carry
Here’s the truth:
Wounds on the skin may heal quickly.
Wounds within—the ones buried by breath—need something different.
The breath shows us the way back.
Breathing like a baby.
Noticing where we hold.
Releasing through intention, affirmation, and compassion.
Reprogramming the script.
The Medicine of Forgiveness
Perhaps the most powerful medicine of all?
✨ Forgiveness.
Forgiveness for ourselves.
Forgiveness for others.
Forgiveness for the ways we’ve been conditioned to hold instead of heal.
Breath gives us that doorway back—into freedom, softness, and wholeness.
The Invitation
At The Nature Within LLC, I guide this process through breathwork, Reiki, mindfulness, and coaching—supporting you in learning to release, reprogram, and return to your original wellness.
It begins with one conscious breath.
