Breathwork at The Nature Within: Where Trust Becomes the Pathway Inward

At the heart of every breathwork session—whether one-on-one or in a group—is trust.
Trust in the body.
Trust in the process.
Trust in the subtle intelligence within each inhale and exhale.
This is the foundation of how I guide breathwork at The Nature Within. My sessions are designed and created uniquely for the person or group in front of me. Because your nervous system, your history, your patterns, and your capacity are your own—and your breathwork practice should reflect that. Your experience is always uniquely yours - always.
Individual Sessions: Breathwork Designed Just for You
When you step into a private breathwork session with me, you are stepping into a space intentionally built for deepening trust within yourself.
Each individual session is personalized and thoughtfully designed after listening closely to:
How your nervous system is presenting itself
Your emotional and physical landscape
Your comfort level with breath practices
Your goals, barriers, and inner narratives
No two sessions are alike. I craft specific breath sequences for you—ones that meet your body where it is while gently guiding you toward expanded awareness, resilience, and self-regulation.
The breath becomes both a teacher and a companion. My role is to hold the scaffold just past your discomfort, allowing you to safely experience the edges of higher CO₂, deeper diaphragmatic engagement, and the softening of the body’s instinctive “panic alarms.”
This is where transformation happens—not through force, but through supported exploration.
Group Classes: Guiding Each Person, Even in Community
Although group sessions follow the same foundational breath techniques, the guidance becomes a collective experience.
In these settings, I create a container that supports every individual in their own inner landscape. You are the owner and connection to your own Nature Within.
Even in a shared room, each person is encouraged to:
Move at their pace
Notice their internal cues
Pause when needed
Lean into moments of expansion
Allow the breath to work with, not against, them
The breath sequence may be shared, but the inner journey is entirely personal.
A well-guided group session helps the nervous system inch toward regulation, gently reawakens the diaphragm, and reacquaints you with the innate ability to breathe fully—something many of us lose through chronic stress and sedentary living.
What Happens in the Body During Breathwork
As you practice breathwork, numerous physiological shifts occur. Most people experience subtle changes in their mind-body connection—temperature shifts, emotional movement, deeper awareness, or sensations of release.
Some individuals, especially those ready to lean into their limits, may feel more intense sensations as they enter deeper states of consciousness or soften long-held protective mechanisms.
One of the most common sensations is tingling or numbness in the hands.
When Your Hands Tingle in Breathwork: What It Really Means
It’s extremely common during breathwork for someone to lift a hand and say,
“My fingers feel numb.”
If you’ve ever felt tingling, buzzing, tightening, or a “claw-like” sensation—you’re not alone.
Here’s what’s happening:
Your CO₂ Levels Shift
During breathwork, you’re altering the rhythm and depth of your breathing.
This temporarily lowers carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in the blood.
Your Blood Vessels Constrict
Lower CO₂ causes slight constriction of blood vessels, which can reduce blood flow to the hands.
Sensations Appear
This may create:
Tingling
Light numbness
Buzzing
Tightness
Temporary “clawing” of the hands or fingers
These sensations can feel surprising, but they are harmless and fully reversible.
Your Body Knows What To Do
The moment you:
Slow your breathing
Relax your hands
Lengthen your exhale
Return to belly breathing
CO₂ begins to rebalance, the vessels open, and your sensations fade.
Your system recalibrates beautifully.
Breathwork Is Not About Forcing the Body
There are many styles of breath that are being utilized by this community - I’m sure you’ll notice some trends. I take a very different approach. I’m all about awareness and guiding those individuals to better understand this “language” of breath. I enjoy creating a sound foundation before adding layers. I enjoy supporting people through their experience to better understand “it’s not breathing for breathing sake.” It’s a connected experience that can help you open more doors than you can imagine through the power of breath.
In classes at The Nature Within, I remind students often:
Breathwork isn’t meant to force the body — but to support it.
Listening to your sensations is part of cultivating presence and building trust in your nervous system.
If tingling happens, breathe softer.
If numbness arises, come back to the belly.
Your breath is not a performance; it is a dialogue between your awareness and your physiology.
A Relationship With Your Breath
Ultimately, breathwork is more than a technique.
It is a relationship.
A relationship with your body’s wisdom.
A relationship with the sensations you’ve learned to resist.
A relationship with trust—trust that your body is capable, intelligent, and resilient.
Every session at The Nature Within is designed to honor this relationship, whether you are in a private session or breathing alongside others in community.
When you trust your breath, you begin to trust yourself.
And that is where the deeper healing begins.
