The Art of Allowing
by The Nature Within

It seems a theme has been emerging lately—for me, and for many within my circle:
the art of allowing.
Last Sunday, Laura and I hosted a Reiki Mastermind Support Circle for Reiki practitioners—a sacred space to open, share, and support one another in truth and authenticity. It was one of the most heartfelt gatherings I’ve been a part of since opening The Nature Within. Through our conversations, stories, and reflections, one message continued to surface again and again:
the quiet, powerful practice of allowing.
What Does It Mean to Allow?
Allowing is not passive. It’s not resignation or giving up control.
It’s an act of trust and worthiness—a sacred invitation to life itself.
We must first feel worthy of allowing—of letting good things come to us. Reiki, for many of us, has been a profound teacher in that way. It’s shown us how to step into spaces as our authentic selves, to share our gifts and talents freely, and to serve from the heart.
Through this work, we remember that allowing is a choice. It is our consent and invitation to whatever energies we are ready to receive—love, abundance, compassion, peace.
It also means noticing when we’ve been unconsciously allowing the opposite:
disrespect, scarcity, or fear.
Our relationships, our work, and our inner world reflect what we believe we deserve—and what we are willing to allow.
Allowing as an Act of Service
For many of us called to healing or service work, allowing begins when we let energy move through us, not from us.
We don’t heal others; we allow the space for healing to unfold.
We don’t control outcomes; we hold presence and trust the flow.
In Reiki, this lesson reveals itself again and again. The more we soften into allowing, the stronger the current of life moves through us. Allowing becomes the highest form of faith—a knowing that the universe is always conspiring in harmony with our intention.
Allowing and Ancestral Healing
When we invest in ourselves—when we choose to believe we are worthy of what we desire—we do more than shift our own lives.
We change the energetic relationship with our ancestors, our loved ones, and those who will come after us.
Each act of allowing—each moment of trust and self-compassion—releases old patterns and opens new pathways for healing within our lineage. The opportunities to grow, receive, and expand are always around us.
We need only to recognize, receive, and allow.
A Practice in Allowing
Take a moment today to pause.
Breathe deeply.
Ask yourself gently:
What am I ready to allow into my life?
What am I still resisting that longs to flow through me?
Notice what arises.
In that noticing, you have already begun.
Allowing starts with trust.
Trust opens the door to belief.
And belief guides us to action—the art of investing in ourselves and our future.
To Laura, and to all those who attended yesterday’s Reiki Mastermind Support Circle—
thank you for showing up for yourselves, for one another, and for the collective.
Your presence reminds me:
when we allow love, truth, and authenticity to move through us,
we become the very medicine we seek.
