A Natural Turning Point
Two days away with members of a business group-turned-friends became one of the most important pieces of my healing to date.
Only a few weeks out from surgery, there was real uncertainty about whether recovery from home or away would best benefit me.
My body still recovering, my energy limited, and mindset not all that clear at times — I didn’t feel very prepared. As I have dedicated myself to All-Things Healing, this was exactly what the doctor ordered. What unfolded this weekend was a reminder that healing does not arrive through stillness alone.
Sometimes it comes through balance and the perfect company of others.
Connection and conversation, nutritious communal meals, doses of uninterrupted focus, and healthy belly laughs, this weekend was the perfect path forward.
This experience, through Laura Ramirez LLC’s Small Business Success Group, offered support far beyond professional development. It created space for clarity, restoration, and alignment—support for business and life.
We spent the weekend in North Stonington, CT at Adam Acres, a place that naturally holds quiet and presence. The land, the home, and the rhythm of the days invited focus without pressure and rest without guilt. It was the kind of environment that allows the nervous system to soften and the mind to settle.
A Message of Alignment
The underlying theme of the weekend carried the message of balance - a meeting point within me between night and day, effort and ease, doing and allowing, healing and forward movement. It is the space where transformation happens not through force, but through alignment.
This message repeatedly whispered deeply at times as I continue to navigate recovery while balancing responsibilities that don’t disappear when healing is required. The reminder was simple and powerful: do enough, but not too much.
When energy is placed in right proportion, harmony follows. Sometimes that one simple agreement is enough to invite all the other pieces to fall right into place by themselves.
This weekend was the perfect blend of friends who followed a rhythm of the golden proportion — of harmony between relationships and environment. Of doing what is necessary, of honoring physical and mental limits, of allowing rest to coexist with productivity, and of letting clarity emerge naturally.
It did. All of it.
Shortly after arriving, we ate a beautiful meal together. We all then settled in a bit together before I retired to my room for the night with a feeling of heavy fatigue. The next morning I awoke with a newly shifted gear. I automatically felt lighter. My mind much more quiet. My energy restored.
The positive outlook, the belief in something more connected, feeling the pleasure of returning to clarity and the ability to master my own breath again — like a beached whale returning back to the sea. It all came back at once. I knew it would be a productive day.
Stillness, Focus, and Community
There is something profoundly healing about being surrounded by people who share similar values and energy. In that space, silence does not feel awkward—it feels supportive. Focus becomes grounding rather than exhausting. Tasks feel intentional instead of draining.
A short time spent in this kind of environment can create lasting clarity.
Each morning began with a sense of purpose.
With intention and coffee.
Each day was productively soul-focused.
With heart-centered work.
Each evening invited an internal peace.
With satisfaction of a job well done.
The perfect pocket of contentment
Healing accelerated not because of effort, but because of alignment.
Filling What Was Empty For All Of Us
This weekend nourished what had been quietly depleted for all of us. This retreat came at the perfect time. We stayed in the perfect place.
This weekend allowed all of us to feed where we were hungry, drink where we were thirsty, and give each of us space to fill our own cups—while also creating moments to come together, break bread, and commune.
Healing, individual, and professional growth was this weekend’s initial intention. The outcome was so much more than expected. This group of people has become so much more than a support system for each other, we’ve become our own breakfast club.
All of which was formed from an idea to embrace the concepts, highlights and struggles of owning small businesses, a magical idea from a mentor.
Gratitude
Deep gratitude for the vision of Laura Ramirez to bring like-minded people together in a unique way that honors both ambition and humanity. She sets the tone. Creating spaces like this—where restoration, focus, and growth coexist—is a gift of hers. Her determination and commitment for the greater good is beyond reproach.
This weekend was not just time away.
It was recalibration.
It was balance.
It was healing in motion.
When life is held in right proportion, the body remembers how to heal, the mind remembers how to rest, and clarity returns naturally.
This was a weekend where my soul whispered, “This Way.”
