We All Meditate

We All Meditate

By The Nature Within

I’ll be honest — meditation was the furthest thing from what I knew or wanted to try.

I didn’t understand it, not one bit.

Why would anyone take time out of their day

to sit and do absolutely nothing?

My mind never stopped —

a wild monkey,

spinning, swinging, chasing thoughts,

never still long enough to notice the breath between them.

ADHD traits, restless energy,

and a lifetime of moving fast kept me far away from the idea of stillness.

It wasn’t spoken about where I came from.

It wasn’t taught, encouraged, or understood.

My body — worn from physical limitations and pain —

found comfort in what was once athletic,

but eventually, I had to turn inward.

And that’s when I realized…

what meditation really is.

We get so tangled in words,

belief systems,

labels,

and what we think something means.

But meditation —

it’s not about sitting cross-legged in silence or chanting mantras on a mountain.

It’s something much simpler, much closer to home.

We All Meditate

We all meditate, in some kind of way.

We all meditate — no matter the display.

We meditate in the process of trust.

Time alone often repairs the rust.

When hobbies spark that light inside —

tending the garden,

reading a book,

or taking that long, freeing ride.

We all meditate, a breath at a time.

We all meditate, writing line after line.

Meditation is a breath of fresh air,

a soft reset,

a break from the glare.

Maybe it’s a walk,

a drive,

a moment to feel alive.

We all meditate —

whether it’s hunting or fishing,

lifting weights,

or simply wishing.

Every pound of iron our muscles can bear,

or the gaze into a flame’s steady stare.

I prefer stillness and introspection —

these days, that’s all my body can handle.

Maybe it’s music,

nodding to your favorite song.

It’s anything that lights us up,

as we drift along.

Some swim, some garden,

some simply breathe.

The goal is ease —

just let yourself be.

Mine may look different,

but no need to compare.

I’ll take a quiet hike in the open air.

We all meditate when pressure is gone,

when we can just settle in

and let life hum its song.

It’s simple, pure —

a place to restore.

And funny how the answers come,

when we stop searching for more.

That’s when we tune into something called spirit.

When we’re finally quiet,

it’s the only time we can hear it.

That voice inside —

the one that connects to your soul.

Meditation is the bridge,

the focus,

the goal.

Sitting alone in stillness may seem a bit odd,

but that’s where the light lands,

when you step away from the squad.

We all meditate,

in our own kind of way.

My practice is Eastern —

some might walk away.

But what others think

is no longer my problem.

That lesson took some time —

and humor to soften.

Because truthfully,

the word itself still stirs people up.

You’d be surprised

how much judgment can fill one cup.

For some, it’s “too foreign,”

or “unpatriotic.”

But to me, it’s medicine —

gentle, melodic.

Call it prayer, call it peace,

call it silence or song.

We all have a rhythm

where the mind grows strong.

And whether you sit, sing, lift, or play —

let’s just be honest…

We all meditate,

in some kind of way.

And so it is.
